If I won [insert obscene amount of money here]

  • I do not play the lottery, nor do I gamble.
  • What I think I would do:

  • Tell no one.
  • Hire a lawyer and financial advisor to help me prudently save and invest and pay taxes.
  • Discreetly give my family members college educations, houses, cars, etc.
  • Travel
  • Support missionaries; build churches and hospitals in third world countries
  • What I actually would do:

  • Go insane from the sudden fame and incessant demands from family, strangers and hustlers
  • Become a selfish, misanthropic hermit
  • Fail to plan and save and invest, so that taxes take me by surprise, and I go bankrupt

I like the disparity between the two sections of this one. I think people would change quite drastically, expecting you to pay for stuff and so on. Hence why I would tell no one how much I won.

I played the lottery just once (Euromillions) when the jackpot was 25 million pounds or something stupid. They said on the radio that you could live off the interest at about 8000 pounds a day! I didn't win, obviously. I paid 4.50 and won 7.50. So in the grand scheme of lotteries, I'm up 3 pounds.

Yes, and I'd feel so guilty for not eliminating poverty and disease in the whole world.
