- Maggie Gyllenhall (watch "Secretary", report back.)
- Shannon Sossamyn (can't spell her name, and she almost annoys me by being too waify-exotic-perfect, but she has style and smarts and a tough vulnerability that's just perfect.)
- Dominique Swain (my sin, my soul...)
- Uma Thurman (can we say SMART, and beautiful?)
- Nicole Kidman (If I had to be transformed into any other female form based purely on looks, it would be Nicole's. I wouldn't mind having her tremendous acting ability and smarts, either.)
- Jennifer Lopez (she's actually starting to grow off me since "Enough")
- Dana Delaney in "Exit to Eden" (I have no idea if she's always that hot, or just in that movie)
- Helena Bonham-Carter
- Charlize Theron (watch "Devil's Advocate" report back to me)
- Reese Witherspoon (beautiful, sweet, smart... if only she'd gain back the weight!)
- Kate Winslet (not only does she totally knock me out, but she's also a normal weight! She's my number two hottie right now on the mental list.)
- Angelina Jolie - After much personal deliberation and the viewing of "Gia" and "Girl, Interrupted" I now feel ready to add her on.
- THORA BIRCH, part. as ENID in GHOST WORLD (yes, I'm obsessed.)
Author Comments:
As one who very much appreciates the beauty of her own sex, here is my list of the hottest actresses going... I tend to think women's tastes in these matters are usually a bit more refined. For one thing, the vapid have little chance of making the list.

You have forgotten the ultimate goddess, Angelina Jolie :)
And I agree totally about the true beauty in American Beauty
too bad she just married billy bob thornton...ugh.
are you kidding?!
as to the lack of Angelina Jolie, I simply haven't seen any of her movies yet. Isn't that Crazy?
i'm not sure if she'd make my personal list, though. Without having seen her movies, it's almost impossible to tell, but for now she doesn't radiate that certain something for me.
Nrr, nrr,
v. nice list. but i agree w, antihero, where's angelina jolie?
I would replace Kate Winslett with Ashley Judd. I used to think Winslett was hot but lately she has gained wait and had an earthy, hippy look in Holy Smoke which was unappealing. Ashley Judd on the other hand works out a ton and always watches what she eats. She has abeautiful face, an incredible body, and looks great in any hair color: blonde, Time to Kill; brunette, Double Jeopardy; redhead, Norma Jean and Marilyn. I don't believe an actress has to be thin to be attractive; however, I would put Judd ahead of Winslett regardless of the weight issue. I also agree with Angelina Jolie for the list; She has full lips, a voluptuous body, an exotic look, and incredible acting ability.

I totally disagree. While I do find Ashley Judd somewhat appealing, I find Kate Winslet ten times more so - at any weight. I'm very concerned with the tendency to consider all fat bad. I think Kate Winslet's earthy hippy look in "Holy Smoke" is one of the sexiest things I've ever seen. I'm actually really pissed off that the only appropriate look for a sexy woman is thin. I'm still trying to fight against my own perceptions of this. For instance why aren't Kathryn Manheim or Kathy Bates on my list? Not to mention older hotties like Susan Sarandon and Sigourney Weaver
As to the much commented upon absence of Angelina Jolie, I haven't seen any of her movies yet. Don't worry, I will.
And as a final note- Hurray to beautiful women of ALL SIZES!
I did not intend to make it seem that only thin woman can be beautiful. I thought Winslett was beautiful in both Titanic and Jude (no lavish outfits nor make-up in this film). Maybe, some of my apprehension stems from her character being attracted to Keitel's. I am very tired of seeing his naked body (Bad Lieutenant, Piano, Holy Smoke). I also agree that Birch is far more gorgeous than Suvari. Although, since Suvari is on multiple magazines, the industry is pushing petit. On a side note, I met Camryn Manheim a couple of months back, and she is extremely friendly and attractive.
I'm glad you amended that, because I was about to say something. However, although Harvey Keitel's naked body is not the most attractive, he's a very good actor, and a very thoughtful one. (I saw him on Inside Actor's Studio) So be nice to Harvey!
I just saw American Beauty this weekend ( in the $1.00 Theatre) and do have to agree that Thora Birch is the real beauty. Although, I think that a lot of that was purposeful.
Well, you have Uma, which almost make up for the scary fact that you also have Witherspoon and Lopez (who has only looked good in Out of Sight). :)
Dana has often been hotter than she was in Exit to Eden; as any regular viewer of China Beach knows, she looks great in an army-green t-shirt.
My personal nominations for this list (excluding any already present), completely bimbo-free (and free of any woman who looks like a teenager; I found 16 year olds attractive when I was 16 years old, not now that I am 28!):
Jennifer Connelly
Penelope Ann Miller
Samantha Morton
Jill Hennessy (especially in Law and Order with the shorter hair)
Elisabeth Shue
Rosanna Arquette (I saw Desperately Seeking Susan when I was 13 years old and couldn't understand how anyone found Madonna sexier than her incredibly hot co-star. I still wonder at this.)
Glenda Jackson (perhaps a bit past her physical prime now, and never a beauty queen, but her fierce intelligence and confidence captured my heart the first time I saw Touch of Class. I find intelligence a very important ingredient in the heady brew of sexiness.)
Kathleen Turner (who, owning the sexiest voice this side of Lauren Bacall (another incredibly sexy woman), need only whisper...)
Victoria Tennant in L.A. Story
Audrey Tautou
And don't even get me started on Katharine Hepburn in Bringing Up Baby, Carole Lombard in My Man Godfrey, or Veronica Lake in Sullivan's Travels. When I was a young boy, these actresses *defined* the word sexy for me (although, granted, the first two characters are a bit flightier than the women I listed previously...).
Gee, maybe I need to start my own list!
Shalom, y'all!
