I'm a big fan of the horror movie genre but I'm having a hard time finding movies that I really enjoy (be they really scary, disturbing, or comically gory). This is a list of ones that I've heard could fit the bill, but I haven't seen yet. If anyone has comments about these films or suggestions for others, I'd love to hear them.

I haven't seen many of the movies on this list, but I do remember enjoying Fright Night oh-so-long-ago. I wonder if I'd still like it?

As for movies missing from this list and your other horror movies list, I was pleasantly surprised by Final Destination, and I thought The Blair Witch Project was terrific, but I realize it's a love-it-or-hate-it kind of movie.

Tragically, I tend to find that horror movies I liked/was scared by when I was younger don't tend to hold up now. Watching Poltergeist 3 was probably one of the scariest experiences of my childhood, but I saw it again just recently (to face my fears) and wasn't impressed.

I can't decide about Final Destination. It seemed like it would be typical teeny-bopper stuff. I have heard good things, though, so maybe I'll look into it.

Blair Witch 1 was good but there were a number of things I wasn't overly impressed with (the day scenes being a big one). Actually, I was more impressed with Blair Witch 2. I thought it was excellent, even though I'm pretty much the only person in that boat.
