Author Comments:
Well, I'm hoping this interests some of you, and doesn't reveal me as a laughably mainstream movie-watcher.
Pretty standard really, one point for the movie it was in, and another for the character who said it, and, heck, because it's tuesday, another if you want to name the actor.
I suppose you could do a search of the web to help you, but where's the fun in that? I suppose this is the honor system.
Oh, and I hope this isn't too much of an accidental clone... I'm making it off the top of my head, I promise.
Points:
jblack- 3
taryn- 9
buber- 1
lbangs- 4
kbuxton- 1
buddy- 2
timepiec- 8
jim- 6

hey antihero ( if that really is your name..) you dont have these numbered. I just used the dots as numbers to figure these out.. By the way, the comment I said in parentheses is a quote from a movie as well. Do you know which one? Anyway, here I go bro...
#3 is from The Crow?
#11 is from the horrible Gladiator (i'm ashamed to admit that i know that one.)
#18 is from Clerks?
How'd i do antihero?
Well, what is a name, really, other than something everyone calls us?
Thanks for the tip about the numbering, i can't believe I forgot about that. I'm not too sure about the comment you made in parentheses, although I do remember the judge from the TV show "Night Court" saying it occasionally.
You were right on the money with the quotes, and I'll just say "Hey! I like Gladiator!" and leave it at that. And hey, you have to admit the recreations of Rome are amazing, right? Right? :)
3 points!
three guesses:
8 - Matrix
17 - Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory
19 - Princess Bride
Hey, good job!
3 points! :)
hey i just read the directions and realized that i could get more points(!):
i think the character's name to #3 is Agent Smith, but i can't recall the actor's name (i loved him in Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert though!) for #17 i'm pretty sure that was said by Willy Wonka himself, played by Gene Wilder. and lastly, #19 was said by Inigo Montoya, played by Mandy Patinkin. woo!
Assuming you meant #8, the matrix one, no, it wasn't Agent Smith, Hugo Weaving, but the other two are both 100% correct.
4 more points! :)
oh you're totally right, it was Morpheus! what was i thinking?! (the actor? Lawrence Fishburne.) *self-satisfied sigh*
That's right, 2 more points for you :)
16 is Dogma.
Good job- it was even a somewhat obscure quote from Dogma, too.
1 point! :)
I think it was Chris Rock's character, the angel Gabriel or something like this.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was Rock's character, Rufus. He was responding to Debbie F's character claiming she wasn't up to the task at hand, maybe when she mentioned that she works in a clinic.
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
I'm wrong. It was Metatron (Alan Rickman).
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
That's right!
Another point for you.
er- make that a point for you- sorry 'bout that :)
And of course the point for guessing the actor. Sorry about that- I'm still not quite used to this :)
Oops! I didn't see that you were awarding points for actors and roles as well. In all honesty, those points aren't mine; I looked the answer up when I saw the discussion about who said the line. Like I said, I didn't realize you were rewarding points for that.
So make that ZERO points for me! Sorry...
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
Here, I'll even the score. I believe 1 is from Magnolia - Philip Baker Hall's character, though I don't know the name. I finally caught a bit of this intriguing film last week.
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
Well there ya go :) Very good on the quote, and I'm leaving the points from the other one too. Mainly cause I feel like it, and I disagree with the whole "road to hell" philosophy.
2 more points for lbangs :)
By the way, read 14 again closely.
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
Is that also from Dogma? It seems like it could be Matt Damon's character (the archangel Gabriel or Michael?), but I'm not sure.
Sounds like it to me. Of course, this ain't my list, and I'm entirely sure or nuttin...
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
Nope, although Dogma is a good guess from the prophet reference.
Thanks for the proofreading. :)
Just a stab in the dark: is 15 from Steel Magnolias?
Nope, not Steel Magnolias- a bit older and perhaps more obscure than that.
#6 - Buckaroo Bonzai
Good job- I've had an itch lately to see that movie again, and it turns out it's just been re-released to vhs :) joy.
A point for you :)
#20 is Samuel L. Jackson in The Long Kiss Goodnight
great job! there were actually lots of funny quotes from that movie that i came across.
2 points!
allright, new game!
#7 is Tombstone (gotta love Doc Holliday as done by Val Kilmer)
#10 is Gladiator, Maximus, Russell Crowe
oh, and for more points, in #8 the speaker was Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne)
and in #11 the speaker was Maximus (Russell Crowe)
Well, looks like taryn beat ya to the punch about morpheus, but you get 2 points for the (other) maximus call.
Good job!
Yep- Val Kilmer's best role, I think... of what i've seen, anyway.
6 Points!
I have a hard time believing 4 hasn't been gotten yet. Maybe everybody else has more pride than I do: Star Wars, Obi-wan Kenobi, Alec Guinness. 12 is from Zero Effect, Steve Arlo, Ben Stiller.
Yeah, I was wondering about the same thing. 3 points for the star wars, of course, and another 3 for Zero Effect, which actually is a pretty good one to get- great little movie, very unknown, in my experience though :)
6 points!
Isn't it great? One of my favorite pleasant surprises. In fact, I recently picked up a used copy on DVD and thoroughly enjoyed it the second time 'round.
I think #5 is from DUNE (David Lynch's movie), and it's said to the main character, Paul Atreides, but I'm not sure who says it.
#9 is Geoffrey Rush as the Marquis de Sade in QUILLS
and I LOVE your quote selections, by the way, especially Zero Effect, which is just a treasure trove of great quotes!
