- Garry's Mod by Garry [screenshots] [9]. The ultimate sandbox. You can create and destroy any entity available in the game (characters, vehicles, objects, building materials, etc.). You can even freeze body parts of rag dolls to position them, or build your own vehicles. Endlessly entertaining. The only thing that seems to be missing is the ability to create active enemies to fight.
- Leon HL2 Pack1 by Leon Stephen Brinkmann and Baltic Forever [screenshot] [6]. Quite good level design, but many graphical and gameplay script glitches along the way. Certainly the best best of what's out there so far (04/14/05).
- Night of a Million Zombies by Mister Dan [screenshot] [5]. Endlessly spawning zombies chase you through a small but well-realized set of streets and alleys. A checkpoint system keeps track of how many you kill. Almost every weapon (including the Gravity Gun) is available as long as you look hard enough or wait long enough. A nice diversion, especially for a very early Half-Life 2 single-player mod, but nothing too special.
- Waku Waku Panic by Tetsu [screenshot] [3]. A clone of Doki Doki Panic with different difficulties available and more interesting traps (like a giant rolling ball, swinging 5-ton block, etc.). Really shows off how easy it is to make a fun level with Source physics, but gets old almost as quickly as Doki Doki Panic anyway.
- Day Hard Part 1 by Carlo Piscicelli [screenshot] [3]. A few very good elements and ideas, but there are a few problems and if you get outside any other way than how you're supposed to get ready for some serious bugs.
- Sublimation by Thomas Veit [screenshot] [2] An interesting tech demo, but little else. You're placed on a bland map and allowed to pilot a Combine gunship. It's pretty tricky to drive, and there are a few bugs. Still, it's really awesome to see that this sort of thing can be accomplished by modders. Worth a try for curiosity's sake, maybe, or if you can't wait for somebody else to do this thing better.
- Doki Doki Panic by Tetsu [screenshot] [2]. A tiny rooftop litered with traps. Push a button, one of the traps is set off, whether it be death rays, explosive barrels, etc. Good fun, but gets old quickly.
- Combine Onslaught by StiffyLS [screenshot] [1]. Booooooooring.
- Alien by DeathKnight [screenshot] [1]. Aliens in the fog. Flat and boring.
- The Bunker by CyberMan [screenshot] [1].A fierce fight, to be sure, but not an interesting one.
- School by CrAzY [screenshot] [1]. Yay, another person learned to make a map.
- Barrel Launcher by TAz00 [screenshot] [1]. A highly flawed tech demo for a barrel-launching buggy.
- Quickwar by K.POV [screenshot] [0]. Somebody learning to make a map, I think.
- Monster Mash by serene blade [screenshot] [0]. Somebody learning to make a map, I guess.
