I've never read any Mann, Gorey, Kundera or Sexton. What would you recommend by them?

lessee...
for mann, i recommend death in venice and other stories.
for kundera, most would probably say the unbearable lightness of being but i've only seen the movie for that--i'd go for immortality or ignorance.
for sexton, no evil star (the title's from the palindrome "rats live on no evil star").
and gorey, well, he's best known for the macabre alphabet series the gashlycrumb tinies, and i recommend amphigorey a nicely rounded collection of his works which includes the tinies.
thanks for asking and let me know what you think if you do try them out!
