These people not only have strong voices with a great emotional quality, but they usually know how to pick good music to sing (as opposed to say, Cher, who has a great voice but chooses to sing the blandest stuff with it).
Now those are some great voices! My favorite lately is Gillian Welch, whose albums (is my age showing?) Revival and Hell Among The Yearlings have been constantly playing in the background lately.
