The greatest techno tracks....according to me

Tags:
  1. Christian Smith & John Selway - Total Departure [2008]
  2. This song blew my socks off when I first heard it, and it never fails to do it everytime I listen to it since. It takes the body of minimal, the groove of house & the soul of techno to create what is truly, something beautiful
  3. Plastikman - Spastik (Dubfire Rework) [2007]
  4. Dubfire did something truly unique with this track. Turn a brilliant, original techno track into something more wonderful. I was always fond of the original track by Hawtin but I never felt the same buzz as other people did. But when I heard this remix it made sense. This is what techno is about. Pure soul made by machines.
  5. Rhythim Is Rhythim - Strings of Life [1987]
  6. Derrick May showed how good techno could be with this song. He raised the bar by a huge level after this was released. It has a melody which is unforgettable, a killer beat and emotion gushing outwards from it. One of only a few techno songs that get right into yout soul.
  7. Laurent Garnier - The Man With The Red Face [2000]
  8. On paper this track is rubbish. Jazz saxophone mixed with a dirty bass line,a trance-like riff and techno rhythms. This is a combination which, simply, are not compatible. However, when you listen to the track it all makes sense. The sounds bounce of it other. Saxophone wailing, the beat building, the riff twirling with the relentless bassline pounding. This is a beautiful track which stands out from a genre of hard, evil sounding techno
  9. Âme - Rej [2005]
  10. This track is just pure evil. It sounds like the devil creating a master plan. It sounds like boys thinking of ways to tourture small insects. It sounds like a record company thinking of ways to market Britney Spears (Ok, maybe not the last one) With sythns bouncing off each other and a frankly dirty bassline this makes for a truly original track.
  11. Plastikman - Plasticine [1993]
  12. The secound entry for Hawtin and this one is a monster. He subtlely uses the 303 to create an atmosphere of pure bliss. This is the clost techno comes to drugs (which coincidently Sheet One was about drugs)
  13. Model 500 - No UFO's [1985]
  14. This is machine soul. This is building on the work of pioneers Kraftwerk. This is dark, twisted, full of strange sounds and most importantly; unique. In today's world of radio friendly dance songs and minimal rulling the underground, this dosn't sound dated at all and most importantly; it sounds fresh and original, something very hard to come by.
  15. Jeff Mills - The Bells [1997]
  16. A strange thing happens in this track. When you first listen to it, it sounds like a hard/tribal techno song and dosn't really make much of an impression. Then as it continues you start to wonder if somethings going to happen. Then, suddenly as you think that, a killer riff comes in and gives this song a whole new dimension.
  17. LFO - LFO (The Leeds Warehouse Mix) [1990]
  18. This track evokes vivid imagery of the warehouse party's that were happening at the time (excluding the obvious reference in the title) This gives an impression of industry, of machines. If machines could sing or make music, this is what it would sound like.
  19. Laurent Garnier - Crispy Bacon [1997]
  20. I can't explain this song too well. It's one of those songs that just build and builds until it overcomes you. You'll have to listen to it to understand how great this track actually is.
  21. System 7 - Alpha Wave (Plastikman Acid House Mix) [1995]
  22. This song is a monster to great through. Like "Crispy Bacon" it just builds and builds. I always have a smile on my face when it's finished.
  23. Carl Craig - Wrap Me In Its Arms (Inst.) [1990]
  24. Choice - Acid Eiffel [1993]
  25. Joey Beltram - Energy Flash [1990]

  28. Monolake - Cyan [1997]
  29. 808 State - Pacific State [1989]
  30. Kabele und Liebe feat. Daniel Sanchez - Mumbling Yeah [2007]

  49. Orbital - Remind [1993]
  50. Plastikman - Spastik [1993]
