Nothing by the Beatles?
Shock horror.
Nope. The Beatles were a good band, a great one in fact, but they never really mastered the album in my opinion. Their songs where too limited to create an album which had the depth, the emotion and just the raw power as albums such as A Love Supreme and Rock Bottom.
Nice list. I have yet to listen to half of your list, but relying on the other half, I'll look into it real soon.
By the way, The Stooges' Fun House is definitely missing here (your Beatles inverse argument..).
Thanks for the compliment.
Haven't heard Fun House yet but I'll definatly check it out. Cheers.
Wow at GYBE! Seriously dude, nice catch, I daresay I would've overlooked getting such an album due to its low critical reception (even from Scaruffi), but I was intruiged by your 9 rating. It is one amazing album!
Yeah, it is. I was just as surprised as you when I first heard it. It blew me away. Favourite moment on it?
All of static. It's just magical =)
Hey thanks for gettting me into the Silver Apples from your 60's thread. They did some cool stuff.
I decided to completley re-do this list. I have re-ordered it according to how I feel each album. They're either there because of
1 - The album is very personal to me. Either it means alot to me or it has been a big influence on my life (In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, Endtroducing)
2 - The album is very very enjoyable. This is pure enjoyment factor but it has to be excedingly enjoyable to get placement just for this reason (Illmatic)
3 - It is a highly charged emotionally riveting album. Has to use emotion is a powerful and effective way (From Her to Eternity, Astral Weeks)
And the best ones are all three of these things (The top 10)
