Shakespeare overshadows almost everyone in the Renaissance, but the late sixteenth/early seventeenth centuries were the golden age of English drama. These nine plays are both great and representative of what was going on at the time. The Spanish Tragedy and The Revenger's Tragedy especially will give you an idea of where Hamlet came from. All of these plays are in print.
