Great Performances...which will be updated soon....

  • *Marlon Brando (Last Tango in Paris)-- That scene with him and his dead wife is absolutely amazing and devastating at the same time. And the final scene...he is easily one of the greatest screen actors of all time, if not the best.
  • *Gena Rowlands (A Woman Under the Influence)-- This is the most believable performance of a mentally unbalanced person I've ever seen. And this film should not be overlooked.
  • *The cast of "Magnolia"-- "Simply amazing" is all I can say to describe this incredible cast.
  • *Robert DeNiro (Raging Bull)-- You know I had to include Robert DeNiro and after much deliberation, I believe that Raging Bull is the best performance that I've ever seen him in.
  • *Any performance by Liv Ullman whom I can safely say is the greatest actress to ever be in films (at least modern films, but of course Ingmar Bergman ((for which she gave her greatest performances)), was a step ahead in what we consider modern cinema). The only actress nowadays that I can consider her rival is Julianne Moore (coincidence that they're both redheads??).
  • *Brenda Blethyn (Secrets and Lies)-- Her performance is so gut-wrentching.
  • *Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves)-- More amazing every time you view this film.
  • *1995-- Two incredible dual performances in the same year. Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking)-- This is one of the most powerful films that was made in the past ten or twenty years. Elisabeth Shue and Nicolas Cage (Leaving Las Vegas)-- Also a very powerful film and very depressing, yet very satisfying in a way.
