Is the Bacon "Screaming Pope," the same thing as his "Study After Velasquez' Pope Pius ..."(can't remember the number)? Or did he do several grotesque, horrific popes? Either way, it is a great painting, one of the most disturbing I've ever seen.

Ah, yes i'm pretty sure that's the proper title- the one i'm visualising is certainly taken after Velasquez, but he did do other Pope paintings. I admire Bacon's unusual use of space, and ability to express angst, alienation, emotions, even if
his personality + subjects weren't always to my liking.

I've mainly gone for my own preferences, so no doubt there will be some surprising omissions under certain artists.
