Okay, usually I think you're about right on with these lists, but I've gotta content with a couple here: Sleepy Hollow can easily bounce the horrendous Ninth Gate from slot 5. Edward Scissorhands can easily bounce either 2, 4, or 5 from this list, and I'm tempted to suggest What's Eating Gilbert Grape and Dead Man for inclusion. Oh what the heck, I will. Here's my five: [1] Edward Scissorhands, [2] Donnie Brasco, [3] Sleepy Hollow, [4] What's Eating Gilbert Grape, [5] Dead Man. I've bounced Platoon only because it's kinda hard to consider it a "Johnny Depp Movie." I don't even remember him being in it!

My philosophy usually is, if they are in it, I'll include them. Thus the Platoon entry. I really didnt like Edward Scissorhands or Gilbert Grape. So I'm having a tough time agreeing with you Jim.

Your inclusion rule makes sense, and you can avoid the "were they in it enough" slippery slope.

I can see where Gilbert Grape would only have limited appeal, but I'm surprised you don't like Edward Scissorhands. While I haven't seen it in some time, I remember thinking it was very strong. A beautiful vision of suburban hell, and a nice fable to boot. And Depp's performance was remarkable in that his facial expressions didn't seem to change much, and yet he conveyed tremendous emotion. Kinda Buster Keatonesque, I thought.

I really didnt have a problem with Depp in that movie. I thought some other cast members were poorly chosen. Anthony Michael Hall was horrible as a "bad guy". Even wynona Ryder was clumsy to me. I didnt like it.

Yeah I gotta agree with Donnie Brasco. I also really enjoyed him in Fear and Loathing and also What's Eating Gilbert Grape. He's definitely a great actor.

Thanks sebreg. Donnie Brasco is a great film.
