It may not be a great film, but Walken gave a career-making performance in THE DOGS OF WAR.

I haven't seen that Bertie. Tell me more...

The screenplay is based on a novel by Frederick Forsythe, who wrote The Day of the Jackal.
Walken plays Paul Shannon, a mercenary soldier who is hired put together a force and use it to overthrow the government of a small African country so that a big mining company can get cheap access to the country's minerals. We see his bleak existence before the gig, him being hired, him recruiting his team, buying weapons and equipment (including a small ship), the planning and mounting of the attack, the attack itself, and....the surprise ending. This was one of his earliest roles and the first in which he made a big impact.

Well...it sounds pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing that with me Bertie. I'll try to find it in my home town and check it out. Thanks again.....
