- *Note* My use of the term "character actor" means someone who usually has a supporting role. Though they could have been a leading man in a movie or two, yet generally they have supporting work.
- Phillip Seymour Hoffman - Here is a guy who turns in a great performance with every role he is given. Hell, even in Twister he was a delight. NOTABLE FILMS Almost Famous, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, The Talented Mr. Ripley.
- Michael Rooker - Rooker is a sensational actor. He gained praise for his brilliant performance as Henry in Henry : Portrait of a Serial Killer. He is very diverse, like Hoffman. NOTABLE FILMS Henry : Portrait of a Serial Killer, Mississippi Burning, JFK, Eight Men Out, The Bone Collector.
- William Fichtner - This guy has shown he can be creepy and heartwarming. A thug and a good citizen. It seems like every role he takes, he studies and he pulls out great performances. NOTABLE FILMS Heat, Go, Contact, The Perfect Storm.
- John C. Reilly - I cant say enough about this overlooked actor. What a talent. NOTABLE FILMS Hoffa, Boogie Nights, The Thin Red Line, Magnolia.
- Michael Rapaport - Rapaport is another overlooked young rising star. I could see him getting nominated in the near future. NOTABLE FILMS True Romance, Higher Learning, Beautiful Girls, Copland.
- Phillip Baker Hall - An elder statesman of the screen, Hall is an alumnist of Paul Thomas Anderson films. He is solid in all his performances. A wide variety of roles he plays brilliantly.
- Tom Sizemore - Tom Sizemore is almost too big in my book to be considered a character actor. he's moved up to third or fourth billing for most of his roles. Jack Scagnetti in Natural Born Killers. Who can forget that role? Michael in Heat. Countless more great roles.. I'm wasting time going on about this guy.
