Good Films Starring Rock Stars

- "The Man Who Fell To Earth" starring David Bowie. He was just coming out of that whole Ziggy Stardust thing, so this role as an alien visiting our planet who succumbs to the excesses of celebrity seemed like a natural fit. I think of all the rock stars that have made films, Bowie's cinematic career is the one that shines the brightest.
- "Performance" starring Mick Jagger - Although it's a bit too wrapped up in visual psychedelia, Jagger excels as a recluse, decadent, androgynous rock star, even though it really doesn't seem like such a stretch.
- "Dancer in the Dark" starring Bjork. This film isn't going to be a crowd-pleaser; in fact, it's quite morose and sinister, while also doubling as a send-up of Hollywood musicals. Bjork is absolutely fantastic in her role as a woman who suffers from a rare disease and desperately tries to keep her spirits up as her world comes crumbling down.

Thanks to kbuxton for the suggestion and inspiration. Yes, they're better off keeping their day jobs, but some of them have actually been involved in some good films.

has anybody seen Dogs in Space with Michael Hutchence (of INXS)? i haven't seen it in a long time, but i remember thinking it was australia's answer to Sid and Nancy.
