There's also a really weird Sesame Street Christmas special from the late 70s/early 80s with Ethel Merman in it... really.
Then there is the (justifiably) legendarily awful The Star Wars Holiday Special (1978) which is so mind-bogglingly horrid it is guaranteed to brighten any Christmas.
And I always think of The Selfish Giant (1971) as a Christmas story.

Thanks for the suggestions, some of those I haven't seen.

Rankin/Bass rules!

...even their Here Comes Peter Cottontail (1971) has Christmas in it. I also think they did something about the Little Drummer Boy... which may be why I rank the song lower than figgy pudding. Just slightly above fruit cake.

...and I can't believe that I forgot:
The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974) with Snow Miser and Heat Miser.
and
Santa Claus is Coming to Town (1970) with Burgermeister Meisterburger.
all of them are characters to rival Yukon Cornelius.
And there's an animated special with mice that sing... and I can't remember the title. But I can sing "Even a Miracle Needs a Hand" by heart.

Even a Miracle Needs a Hand is from 'Twas the Night Before Christmas (1974)

What?! No "Garfield's Christmas"? Thank goodness for VHS. I watch it every year. It's on the same tape as Garfield's Halloween show. Both are rarely shown, thus greatly underrated. Still available at Amazon, though.

Yes, Garfield's Christmas is great, I used to watch it all the time but I haven't seen it in a while. It should have been on this list before now.

This is an awesome list. Thank you.

We have been working hard at uploading the best Christmas movies, specials and more on christmasvideos.org for everyone to watch and enjoy this holiday season.

Many of the films you have listed here are already on the site, ready to watch. I am going to try to get some of the others posted soon.

Upon waiting for the Christmas Eve, the only thing that me and my cousins are doing is to watch movies. And one of our favorite movie is Home Alone! This movie is very very great! It makes us laugh at all time and this movie has a very good learning especially to children.

Most popular holiday quotes from A Christmas Carol, It's a Wonderful Life, cute christmas sayings Story, Charlie Brown and The Grinch will be sure to make you smile as you fondly remember these classic holiday movies. Rent one of these movies, make a bowl of popcorn, and enjoy some family time.
