It occurred to me after posting my imaginary British menu that with all of the English literature in praise of food, they must have some delicious cuisine of their own. When I had thought about it for awhile, I realized they do indeed have some food worthy of international stardom.

Try these:
Bacon sarnie ('sarnie' is a sandwich)
Chip buttie (hot chips in a buttered roll)
Welsh rarebit
Pork pie
Cornish pasty
Fish and Chips
Thanks for the suggestions. I do have a recipe for Welsh rarebit somewhere that I've considered trying to make.
Sounds delicious!! Can't wait to try everything!
A hot chip buttie is pure heaven, and can also be made with with sliced bread in lieu of a roll.
Shepherd's pie is a favourite of mine which I have most Saturdays, made with lean mince beef.
That sounds like a great routine to have! I make a vegetarian version of shepherd's pie about once a year or so (probably not very authentic, I admit).
I wonder where they got the name?
