I actually didn't read these on a beach, but I wish I did . . .

Hi Vicky,
Good list--some ideas for my next beach jaunt. Jim Mayle has also written "Hotel Pastis" which is fun and well-written.
As a mystery fan, I read "Smilla's Sense of Snow" and found it intriguing but found that the translation sometimes got in the way (some sections sounded awkward.
Now how about a list of "best baby books"?
Best,
Auntie M.
Hi Vicky...i read "Owen Meany" a few years back and loved it!!! It is by far my favorite book. It's the only book to ever make me cry, actually. i was wondering if you have seen the movie, "Simon Birch"? i heard it is based on John Irving's book and have only seen bits and pieces. If you have seen it, would you say does the book justice?
Hi! I haven't seen Simon Birch, although it is on my "to see" list. As a very general rule, I try to stay away from movies that were made from books I really liked. I'm always disappointed, sometimes angry. In the case of Simon Birch, however, I read that John Irving endorsed the project--but on the condition that the movie would be only loosely based on the book and not an actual adaptation. So, I am planning on giving it a shot. So what about you? Do you have lists I should look at???
Well, my book list is rather weak. i have read so many books that i cannot recall them all. Only the ones that intrigued me do i remember. Those are the ones on my list. i have tendency to remember music better...so my lists are longer for those. Please feel free to check them out.
