Yojimbo is on Turner Classic Movies tonight. As is The Seven Samurai and Throne of Blood.
Ah, "Cinema Paradiso", now there's a great movie. In fact, everything here (that I've seen) is good.
I just found out about "Cinema Paradiso" today and I can't believe I have not seen it.
Okay, every time some unfortunate Listologist posts a list like this I jump in and plug the same director. But I'm not going to do it this time. I'm really really not. I know y'all must be getting sick of me beating the same dead broken record. So okay then, I'm walking away now...
<face contorts with effort>
Argh.
Must.
Leave.
Now.
<sound of dry stick snapping>
<face goes slack>
Have you seen any Zhang Yimou movies?
<slinks away>
Zhang Yimou.... Isn't he related to Hal Hartley or something?
;)
Shalom, y'all!
L. Bangs
:-) Well, they've each been adopted by a Listologist, does that count? And I think jgandcag made claim to John Sayles, so he's in the family too.
jgandcag? Whatever happened to that guy. He used to post a lot on this site but I haven't seen him around much....
Happy Holidays to everyone. I will try to post more in the future.....
Well, you have the best possible excuse, but I certainly hope we see more of you in '04!
yes,I have.
Cool! Which ones? What'd you think? I promise to take it like a gentleman if you hated them.
To live and Raise the red lantern.They were both good but I enjoyed Raise The Red Lantern the most.
If you liked Raise the Red Lantern you should give Ju Dou a try. I'd always considered the former his best, but it's awfully close. And of course, fans of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon should check out Hero, if Miramax ever gets off their evil obstructionist asses to release it in the U.S.
I will :)
THANKS!
You also might want to add Nine Queens (Nuevas Reinas) to the list. Wonderful movie, great twist at the end, and probably the best to come out to Argentina.
Funny, I just yesterday saw a trailer for this and added it to my "to see" list. I always have high hopes for heist movies, and they almost always let me down, but I never learn - my hopes are up for this one as well.
Jim, it won't let you down. Very good film.
It looks very good.
Hmmm,I've never seen an Argentinian movie sounds interesting.
Have you seen Bergman's The Seventh Seal? I liked it better than Wild Strawberries.
Since Mary has only been around here sporadically of late, I will direct you to #10 of this list.
Ah, right, cool. I'm happy to see #38 there! (American Beauty)
I love seventh seal!
