FIVE BEST QUARTERBACKS IN HISTORY

If I am not mistaken the job of the quarterback is to win Championships. Marino never won anything. Please do not give me the argument about the organization not supporting him. Montana, Bradshaw or Johnny Unitas (Where is Johnny U?) belongs on the top of this list.

Championships mean alot in the quarterbacks stature of greatness. My favorite is Bradshaw, because I'm a longtime Steeler Fan. I just look at Marino's records and had to give him the nod.

so I guess jgandcag is saying that Jim McMahon, Trent Dilfer, Doug Williams, Mark Rypien, and Brad Johnson were all better quarterbacks than Marino - because they all won championships, and they did it all by themselves - with no help from a ground game or their defense.

If we're rating quarterbacks with number of championships being the only thing that matters then Otto Graham is Number 1. He played ten seasons in the AAFC and the NFL combined and led his team to the championship EVERY year. Graham's Browns won all four AAFC championships and won 3 out of 6 NFL championships.

Number 2 would be Bart Starr. he led the Packers to the 1960 championship where they lost to the Eagles. It was Lombardi's only post-season loss ever! Then Starr and the Packers won the '61 and '62 NFL titles. After not making it to the title games for two years, they won three in a row - only NFL team to ever to win three in a row. The Packers won the 1965 NFL championship, Then they won the 1966 and 1967 NFL championships and capped both of those seasons by winning the first two Super Bowls.

Number 3 would be Montana - winner of 4 Super Bowls, including a 55-10 blow-out of Elway's Broncos in 1990. Montana never even threw one interception in a Super Bowl.

Bradshaw won four as well, but obviously Montana was a much better QB than Bradshaw.

Bob Griese won back-to-back Super Bowl's. How many QB's have done that? The answer is 5. Five guys have done it 6 times.

Starr, Griese, Bradshaw did it twice, Elway and Brady

Does that make Griese a better QB than Marino?

'Didn't think so.
