  130. [07/13] Japan Sinks (2006 Shinji Higuchi) 54 - Occasionally overmelodramatic film that lies somewhere between a recent BBC disaster "doc" and The Core. The entire romance subplot is laughable and the FX are only a bit better than a Sci-Fi Channel original. Two scenes (one showing the disaster in multiple towns and another where a woman is laying the corpse of her baby next to another of her dead loved ones) are very memorable. The photography (by Taro Kawazu) and score (Tarô Iwashiro) are better than average. And it stars Tsuyoshi Kusanagi (sigh....)
