Wow! If my calculations are correct, that's over three movies a day. How in the world do you manage that? :-)
Yeah, that's incredible, you've watched more in 5 months, than I've ever in a whole year. And I'd consider myself pretty enthusiastic.
I've been obsessed for a while now. My average is probably going to drop off quickly soon because there are fewer movies I want to see. Yesterday was the first day in 8 months that I didn't watch any at all.
But how in the heck do you find the time to watch three movies a day, if you don't mind me asking. I'm lucky if I have the energy to watch that many in a week.
Figure it's an average of 2 hours apiece, so that's 6 hours a day. 6 hours for work. 6 hours for sleep.
I take it you saw Peter Ibbetson on the new Gary Cooper box set? What's it like? One of my favourite film critics, Adrian Martin, has it in his top 10
I only rented Peter Ibbetson and General Died at Dawn from Netflix. Peter Ibbetson was great, right up there with Portrait of Jennie, it's going in my own top ten for that year.

Yes, I am. But in the same time period I read 11 books. I think I'm going to change habits; I've already watched all but a few hundred movies I want to see and those are harder to find.
Baraka (1992, right?) has been on my to-see list forever. What did you think of it?
(yes, 1992) I thought it was really good. It leads me to believe Ron Fricke (the director of Baraka) may have had more to do the greatness of Koyaanisqatsi than Godfrey Reggio, because I wasn't nearly as impressed with Koyaanisqatsi's two sequels, which were done without Fricke.
Bud, you need to get some sunshine. It's summer, go ride a bike or something. I mean, I love movies but there's more to life than sitting in front of a screen. What about some human contact?

It's too hot to ride a bike. Honestly I don't spend much time (by my standards) in front of a screen the last couple months. And it might be a bit egotistical, but I generally don't like people. I'd rather walk around alone, not bothering anybody.
Everything would be fine if it weren't for people.
Mercy me, what a diverse and prolific selection! Have you always watched movies at such a pace? How long do you intend to keep it up?
I've been doing it maybe 4-5 years. I'm not going to keep it up much longer (just a minute ago I cancelled my Netflix subscription) mostly because I'm running out of movies I want to see. Lately I'm getting more into reading.

Exactly what I was doing.
So... why did you watch Kiss Me Deadly 3x in a row?
A lark mostly. I don't do a lot of repeat viewing because I'm usually trying to get through all the movies I haven't seen even once, and I thought maybe I'm not fully appreciating each one. So I picked one that could stand up to a few screenings and went for it.
Did it work? Was it worth it?
Not really. It's still a great movie, but there's not much point in watching it (or almost any movie) more than a couple times. By the third I still remembered every shot .
Your retention is enviously superior to mine.
Well the only film I've ever watched three times in a row, was "La sortie des usines Lumiere" (1985 / France / Louis Lumiere), and it didn't even take much of my time ;-)
