Don't quite understand the purport of this list. Movies not made yet? THE 39 STEPS has already been made at least twice, once by Hitchcock. But I'd love to see a movie version of EARTH ABIDES, a great sf novel in the 'End of the World' genre.

I'm gonna guess it's that user's list of movies to see. Thus, a list of interest for movies to see in the future, not a list of interest for future movies.
Then again, that's just my guess...what do I know? :P

I actually think that the user means movies he'd like to see made-- but Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was made, too-- into Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Facory or something like that, with Gene Wilder.

Actually I'm looking for the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to be made into a film. I don't know what that other piece of garbage was. Somebody missed the spirit of Roald Dahl.

Well, you'll have to include the commercially surprising CHRONICLES OF THOMAS COVENANT THE UNBELIEVER films with FX by Industrial Light and Magic and starring myself. It may take me a decade or two, but these aren't for the kiddies at all. And I'd be really good as the unbeliever! That's my dream project that just won't leave me alone... fun topic!

WOW! I haven't thought of those books since reading them during their initial release when I was in High School!

I would LOVE to see them made into movies! Or better yet (and I feel this way about the DUNE books, as well), limited-run, WELL PRODUCED, TV series. One or two books per season should be good enough to maintain each of the book's rich detail.

With ILM doing the FX and you starring, I don't see how any studio (or, SCI FI Channel) could go wrong!

I must say, I am waiting, with much hope, for the 1st of Tolkein's LORD OF THE RING series to hit movie theaters next Christmas!

I would also like to see the following:

WICKED - The Story Of The Wicked Witch

Sorry, can't remember the author's name off the top of my head...Gregory something)

THE ISLAND OF THE DAY BEFORE - Umberto Echo

I would have also said FOUCAULT'S PENDULUM, but I understand Eco has finally agreed to a film version (after tunring down everyone--including Kubrick)

GATES OF FIRE - Dramatic story of the Battle of Thermopyle between a crack-band of Spartan warriors and the Persian Empire.

I apologize again, the author's name escapes me (something Pressfield, maybe...)

About a Boy: Agreed. Especially after my full love with High Fidelity, I'd love to see an adaptation of About a Boy as well!

Hey, Phreak!
It's happening. Here is some info.

Don't take this the wrong way, but...you like Paul Verhoeven?
I've seen most of his films (I missed 'The Hollow Man') in the theater. I have also seen them over and over numerous times on Cable. And all I can say is that Paul Verhoeven seems like one "tasteless" individual.

Hi! I don't know that I ever implied that I liked Paul Verhoeven. I don't even know the man. He does have a hyper-realistic edge which I think could lend itself well to a movie about the Crusades.

The reason this is on the list is because there was scuttlebutt about this project sometime back and it sounded interesting to me. If I had to think of an nltimate 'Crusades' director and star Paul and Arnold would not be on the top of that list. But that's another type of list entirely.

I've always wanted to see a movie of On the Road. Or one of Jack Kerouac's life, but that could never be condensed into a film. Other things I'd like to see: Monkey Wrench Gang by Abbey, Electric Kool Aid Acid Test by Wolfe...and well...I'm blanking right now but I will add suggestions later on.

I think Ender's Game would make a great film, if handled correctly. They'd just have to keep the big-budget blockbuster filmmakers away from it, and keep it as a tight story focussing on Ender's military training.

As for Neuromancer, I'm kind of surprised it hasn't been done already. Although if I understand its place in literary history correctly, it's certainly had its hand in just about every film/novel/short story in the cyber-punk genre. Ah, William Gibson, you make us Vancouverites proud.
