Feature Films Based On: Comics

Does "GE" stand for anything, or is that just an organizational prefix?

Anyway, a few additions, including my favorite Batman movie (I'll assume you aren't including straight-to-video releases?):

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
Batman (1966)
Akira (1988)
Asterix in Amerika (1994)
Astérix & Obélix: Mission Cléopâtre (2002)
Asterix in Britain (1986)
Asterix and Cleopatra (1968)
Asterix Versus Caesar (1985)
Asterix and the Big Fight (1989)
Asterix and Obelix Take On Caesar (1999
Asterix the Gaul (1967)
Blondie (1938)
a dozen other movies in the Blondie series...

...and that's all the ones I have the time for now :-)

GE is short for Genre and it's how I group all of my Genre lists together...

ah, ok.

I think this list is only for animated films (see title). Some of those aren't animated.

lol, no, Dan split the list into animated and live-action AFTER I made my post :-)

Yeah. That's what they all say.

Damn! Well, I hadn't heard that before, I figured it would work.

I should probably know this, but what does a 'feature' film mean? Theatrical release? If so, Batman: Mask of Phantasm had a theatrical release. So did Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I tend to think of a "feature film" as having 2 qualities: 1) It's of a "feature" length and 2) It was produced for theatrical release. AFI specifies "feature" length as 40 minutes although I've never really thought too hard about whether something is "feature" length as most films are either clearly much less than or much greater than that 40 minute mark.

This list is far, far, far from complete and I've spent about a total of 2 minutes working on it. I work on things that interest me and I leave place markers for things that don't interest me at the moment but might interest me down the road. When this list interests me I will complete it. Until then you are more than welcome to create your own list.

Interesting! I think everywhere else I've read it's specified as 60 minutes (that's what I use).
