Ah, Martin Scorsese my favorite as well even though I hated hated The Aviator.
I dunno, Marty's team-up with DiCaprio is nowhere near the same chemistry to the old acquaintence with DeNiro. A change of pace to the Scorcese I'm used to but still a damn good film. Still it's good to see him trying new things again. I'm just glad he's still working.
I see many of my favorites up here. Have you watched much Tarkovsky?
Shalom, y'all!

Only Solaris. One of those directors I keep meaning to check out more, but never get around to.
I agree with Tarkovsky himself that it's his weakest film, so do try Andrei Rublev, Stalker, Mirror. Ivan's Childhood is probably the most accessible. And it's frustrating so few people have seen Mizoguchi films.
I see you like Michael Mann also? Which ones of his movies is your favorite? What did you think of his version of Red Dragon aka Manhunter?
Close call between The Insider and The Thief. But i'll say the thief for it's gritty realism, atmospheric cinematography, and excellent score.
Red Dragon is just another film fuelled by Hollywood greed. It's too faithful to the book. Manhunter is much braver film-making in that aspect, and Mann gets the best out of the cast.
Good to see Leone so high. Who else can make a 4 hour film which doesn't bore you for a second? Good to see Woody Allen there as well, though I think he's far superior to the Coen brothers, imho.
