I respectfully submit these for your consideration:
- Darth Vader: The Empire Strikes Back
- Hans Gruber: Die Hard
- Kahn: Star Trek II
- Hannibal Lecter: Silence of the Lambs
- Amon Goeth: Schindler's List
I am proud to call you a colleague here pal. The HAL 9000 computer is the greatest villain in movie history, period Nat.
I agree with Darth Vadar, and Hannibal Lecter, but I have not seen Star Trek, and I do not like Die Hard. The problem with the villian in Schindler's List is that he is more human than the others, while he is evil, he is not the same type of villian as the others.
You should check out Star Trek II. Some would say it's the best of the series, and based on your villain choices you'd probably like Kahn.
I recently rewatched Die Hard, and I didn't like it nearly as much as I did when I was a teenager. But Alan Rickman did a marvelous job with Gruber. Still, it's your list. :-)
Mrs Robinson as a Villian? I suppose she could be considered one, but I find her more sad and lonely to be truly considered villianious.
How about Belloq from Raiders of the Lost Ark,The Abominable Dr. Phibes, or Liberty Valance. Just some suggestions
I haven't seen Liberty Valance, or Dr. Phibes, but Belloq is a good idea.
I had one of these lists going before ran into yours, and I have to say HAL is an EXCELLENT one that I'm going to add to mine. GREAT entry!
Hook and The Shark, too. I'm STEALING those!!!
Thanks for your enthusiasm I enjoy your list very much. As a matter of fact, I am enjoying a lot of your lists. Its good to have you here!
I am new to this site but am a big bad guy fan. The bad guy in my opinion makes the movie. While nobody can match Hannibal Lector for sheer evil and brutality and well as Anthony Hopkins terrific acting, Tommy Devito in Goodfellas would be my pick. He looks neither threatening or menacing but no villian in recent memory got as much fun out of killing as he. Joe pecsi was outstanding as well as "funny".
