- I've played guitar for years, but don't really know any songs because I just like to make up stuff to play 'on top of' existing songs. Here are my favorite songs to solo over (usually, the solos end up being of the speed metal variety despite the source's genre):
- Lynard Skynard - Freebird
- Tom Petty - Knockin' On Heaven's Door
- Rob Dougan - Furious Angels
- Air Talisman

Blue Sky by the Allman brothers~ Easy because its a two chord progression that use similar notes, and Dicky and Dunane's styles are great to imitate.
Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam~ Same structure as above song and other ideas come to use.
Gimme one Reason by Tracy Chapman~ Nice blues vehicle that Clapton played on that you move the boues scale aroud on and work it.
Let it Be by The Beatles~ Easily one of the greatest solos of all time and easy to play. Very lyrical and just great song.
No Woman no Cry by Bob Marley~ Same structure of above song but new ideas are easy to use
I'll have to give those a try!
