These are my personal favorites, and not necessarily the most popular songs.
As you can see, I have divided the list into four sections. The first section is made up of musicals I have been in. The second section is made up of musicals I saw on Broadway. The third section is made up of musicals I saw as movies. The fourth section is all other musicals whose music I know fairly well.
Note: For musicals that I have seen both as plays and as movies, I added them based on which version I am basing my enjoyment of the song from. For example, I loved "Coffee Break" when I saw HTSIBWRT as a play but disliked it in the movie version, so it's in section 4.
If I think of any more musicals, I'll add them. Feel free to suggest any.
Update: 2/16/03 - Saw "Urinetown" on Broadway this weekend.
