Tags:
- 1) I Get a Kick Out of You (as sung by Ethel Merman, from "Anything Goes" by Cole Porter)
- 2) Like a Virgin, Madonna
- 3) Canary, by Liz Phair (so much sadness, so much truth)
- 4) Flower, by Liz Phair (sexy, dirty song, have recited it to most of my former lovers.)
- 5) Buildings and Bridges by Ani Difranco (contains my new life philosophy)
- 6) The Rainbow Connection, Kermit the Frog (reminds me of innocence and childhood.)
- 7) Mamma Mia, Waterloo, Does Your Mother Know?, Take a Chance on Me, Move On all by ABBA (there's just no beating ABBA for upbeat, nostalgic memories
- 8) Drum Trip-Ecstasy-Send Me on my Way, Rusted Root (provided the dance sequence for my Wisconsin summertime gang for years, will always live in my heart as the music of youthful decadence under a summer sky)
- 9) Beautiful People Rusted Root (the mellow, melancholy, aftertaste we sang along to.)
- 10) Don't Stop Me Now, Queen (lots of energy with just a touch of sadness, great to sing along to.)
- 11) Buildings and Bridges, Ani Difranco (my current anthem, of sorts.)
- 12) Don't Dream It's Over, Crowded House (beautiful song, but I had forgotten how good it was until I heard it again in "The Stand" mini-series. The mini-series sucked, but that one moment where Franny and Harold are listening to this song right after the plague has wiped away their world, including the culture that produced this song, was amazing, and the song was perfect for it. I think the song is perfect for these times, too.
- 13) April Fools, Rufus Wainwright (I love Rufus Wainwright. There are at least 2 of his other songs that could qualify for inclusion on such a list, but I choose April Fools because of its sheer optimistic delirium. It just puts me in an amazing mood every time, and Rufus's voice is a joy to hear.)
- 14) Movie Script Ending, Deathcab for Cutie (It reminds me of friends, good times, the time around my wedding. And it's a good song. And it's about Bellingham, my new place of residence.)
Author Comments:
These are the songs that will always be close to my heart, no matter how close they are to anyone else's top ten list. These could be played at my funeral, and I would happily tap my toes in my grave.

Don't Stop Me Now is my favourite song ever! Good list.
