I'm not really into '70s nostalgia. Most of the people I know who think that the '70s were "cool" are too young to remember.
But I do have fond memories of hanging out with the girls at Stardust Skate Center. Watching Summer of Sam kinda sorta reminded me of those "good old days."
As to the songs, gimme a break, I was only in elementary school!

It might have been released in '80, but I would like to celebrate Olivia Newton-John's "Xanadu" as one of my top favorite roller rink songs. I would also like to say how jealous I am that you got to rollerskate to disco! I love disco, but grew up in the 80's/90's and got mostly weird metal, bad rap and hip-hop and the perennial "Ghostbusters". I also never got to hear "Like a Virgin" at the rink which is VERY good to rollerskate to as is Prince's Purple Rain album. I love your list, by the way, as I love roller-skating.
Between 1981 and 1985, during which time I was 11-15, my parents owned a roller skating rink. Needless to say, I grew up at that rink. On any given saturday, I had skates on my feet from 10am through midnight.
And during my time at the rink, I listened to what those in the family referred to as "rink music". Billy Joel, Bob Seger, Foreigner, AC/DC, the Cars, the Police, Journey, Phil Collins, Eagles, Pat Benetar, Joan Jett, the Outfield, Kansas, Styx, not too mention all the one-hit wonders, like Big Country, Nena, Oxo, Soft Cell, et al. And I've still got all of the 45s!
Nostalgia party at my house! Piano-key ties for everybody!
Cool. That would be the "disco sucks" era. By the early '80s, my favorite roller rink had added a video game section in the middle of the rink. That's when I knew its days were numbered.
ok im looking for a song that was played often an it has a robot voice or beat theme to it anyone know what it was ?????
