*Thanks for the 7 and 11 thing. As far as DMR being a one hit wonder? Hmmmm....
Ok I added T'Pau. I have them on cassette from way back when anyway.
Does anyone remember an early 90's song called "A Deeper Shade of Soul?"

How about: The Promise by When in Rome, Whisper to a Scream (aka Birds Fly) by Icicle Works...I'll think of more too.
Hey, don't forget about "Wooly Bully" by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs! How about "96 Tears" by Question Mark and the Mysterians?!
Well done! This is exactly the type of list I was envisioning, and would create myself if I wasn't suffering a complete mental block on the subject.
Oh, I've got a good one! How about (I always feel like) Somebody's Watching Me - by Rockwell? With Michael Jackson singing background vocals. Perrrfect!
How about 99 Red Balloons (99 Luftballoons) - Nena (does anyone besides me remember this?)
Ooh yeah! The only reason I hadn't suggested this was because I couldn't remember if Nena was popular for anything else.
I don't want to be a wet blanket, but two points: (1)your numbers 7 and 11 are the same, and (2) the case of Dexy's Midnight Runners raises this question: are a band one hit wonders if they only had one hit in the U.S.? I think you'll find DMR had more than one hit in Britain.
"Heart and Soul", T'Pau. Definitely the best song ever performed by a band named after an elderly Vulcan, at least until that guy at Polygram finds out about my new band, Surak and the Saaviks.
I may be wrong, but I don't think Blue Oyster Cult ever had another hit before or after "Don't Fear the Reaper"...
I think they had a song called "Burning for You". A lot of rock stations play that one.
Burning For You, Godzilla, Joan Crawford.
Regarding your "Deeper Shade of Soul" question, was it these folks?
Yeah! That's the band. They play them on MTV all the time.
I'm also not sure if Murray Head (I did'nt know he was the one who charted with one night in Bankok) would be considered a one hit wonder. He was also the singer of the title song from Jesus Christ Superstar, which definately charted in England, and I think charted in the US. Anyway, to have a hit on the rock charts from a musical TWICE is pretty darn good.
i just heard "died in your arms tonight" by cutting crew the other day and it was so good! surprisingly, it didn't sound that *dated*... also, there was that band called Johnny Hates Jazz--what did they sing again?
Shattered Dreams.
another candidate - Too Sexy by Right Said Fred
#4 is Only The Lonely and the group is The Motels not The Hotels. Incidentally they had about four top 40's.
Take The L.
Suddenly Last Summer
Only The Lonely
and some other one I cant think of...

DEEPER SHADE OF SOUL!! That is a mad fun song.
Barbie Girl - Aqua
and
Baby Got Back - Sir Mix a lot
Those are two one hit wonders that i can think of
