Author Comments:

Qualification for this list is that I've seen at least four films by a certain filmmaker that I like and would watch more from. The directors are listed mostly as they came to my mind, which only vaguely resembles the order of preference. I have also decided to include a few filmmakers that I would not really call "favorite directors", but liked or even loved some of their films very much.

I've listed my favorite films of each director in order of preference and limited to a maximum of six films per director. The first title of each film is the international englisch title, the second one the original title.

(*) means that I have to see the film again for proper valuation.

Note: This list is not complete, it's kind of work-in-progress and will hopefully be completed and updated.
