7/25/03: I've been meaning to add Smashing Pumpkins for awhile, because I hear them every time I get in my car, it seems. By the time I get home, I forget. Anyway, today they make their debut on this list. It seems to me there was another band I wanted to add, but it's not coming to me at the moment.
2/10/03: Every time I hear one of these bands on the radio (which is quite often), I think to myself, "boy, I should start list." Well, here it is. These are bands that I used to like (enough that I own one or more of their albums) but have now grown so desperately tired of them that I doubt I will ever recover even a shred of affection for them. Instant station-changers.

Wow, that is funny. I created a list a while back entitled "Bands I should like but don't really care for" I had DMB and Jane's on that list. Perhaps we should start a list for the overrated.
We agree quite a bit here, Jim! While I don't hate Red Hot Chili Peppers, they certainly are incredibly over-rated. That puts them in good company with Dave Matthews and Jane's Addiction.
Shalom, y'all!

I agree with DMB, they definitely aren't as good as they used to be. Do you have "Everyday"? It's so mainstream that it disgusts me. Just look at the titles of the songs: "I Did It", "So Right", "What You Are", "Everyday." How bland. What happened to lively song titles like "Dancing Nancies", "Drive In Drive Out", "Jimi Thing", or "Lie In Our Graves"? "Busted Stuff" does a little bit to return to their earlier roots, but not enough. They're just not as good anymore.
Oh, wait, I think I missed the point of your list. :-)
I believe that Red Hot Chili Peppers, newest stuff is actually there best, and they are getting better. Thats odd because from my experience they aren't in the spotlight as much as they used to be, but that could be the fallen from Grace part.
Entire possible, I'll happily concede. I don't think these bands are bad, I'm just personally sick of them, probably beyond recovery (and they're all bands I used to like!). I also tend to think these bands are overrated to varying degrees, but how could I not, given my current personal feelings for 'em?
