  • Do not drift, my dear.
  • Years await for released rainbow ends,
  • For sighs and sleeping,
  • For unfolding the fist flat.
  • Do not doze now.
  • Float not among the crowd
  • Drifting downstream.

  • If your eyes must close,
  • Gather shards of yourself,
  • Shove them to with smoke and sparks,
  • And paste a blazing collage,
  • And project dreams on screens too big for life.
  • Make your mantra
  • Intensity
  • And wrap life tight about the coil,
  • Snap the slack into stretched tautness,
  • Fan flares and inflame the wet fuel,
  • Give blood and sweat when comfort tempts,
  • Come in glory,
  • Come as glory,
  • Come.

  • Your age increases
  • And ceases.
  • Rest will rape you one day,
  • But not now.
  • Breath still blesses,
  • Thoughts still crouch at blocks
  • Awaiting the gun,
  • Blood still shoots through in blurs about your body.
  • Live while you are able,
  • Drift not now, my dear,
  • Do not drift.

I think you know I'm a fan of your poetry anyway, so I'm very happy to see another beautiful piece here. I find the lines "Come in glory/Come as glory/Come" and "Rest will rape you one day/But not now" the strongest lines in the poem; beautiful and emotional.

This is one of your best yet.

I wish we studied your poetry in English Lit..

Thank you very much. I also think this one of my best poems from the past few months, and us poets gush and blush when anybody appreciates our babies.

You're very kind, and I greatly appreciate it!

Shalom, y'all!
