Dwindling Civil Rights

  • An outstanding seven minute video.
  • If you remember nothing else, remember this: anytime you have to pay the government or get a license from the government in order to do a particular activity, that means that activity is a PRIVILEGE granted to you by the government and is NOT a RIGHT. Rights are activities for which you are the highest authority and no one, not even the government is a higher authority than you. If you have a right to do something, that means you don't have to pay anyone, nor do you require a license. Over time, the government has tricked the public into turning their rights into privileges. This list cites some examples of this.
  • WHAT HAS CONGRESS DONE WITHOUT AUTHORITY FROM THE CONSTITUTION?

  • Keep and bear arms: the purpose of the 1st gun permit was to prevent blacks from taking reprisal after the Civil War. Now owning a gun is a privilege granted by the government if you pass a background check. Even then, the government keeps lists of gun owners so they know who to take out first in order to prevent the public from rebelling. During the New Orleans floods in 2004, the National Guard confiscated all weapons and people were unable to defend their own homes from looters. Thus, even if you own a gun, the government reserves the right to take it away from you even if you are a law abiding citizen simply looking to protect your family. Furthermore, the Lautenburg Amendment takes away your right to bear arms FOR LIFE if convicted for domestic violence, a crime for which you tend to be guilty until proven innocent.
  • "The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." - Thomas Jefferson
  • "Arms are the only true badges of liberty. The possession of arms is the distinction of a free man from a slave." - Andrew Fletcher
  • "The unarmed man is not just defenseless, he is also contemptible." – Machiavelli
  • "What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance?" - Thomas Jefferson
  • Marriage: purpose of the 1st marriage license was to prevent interracial marriage after the Civil War. Now, you cannot get married without purchasing a marriage license from the government.
  • Abuse of the federal government’s power to regulate Interstate Commerce, citing that reason to interfere in things normally decided at the State level
  • You can’t leave the USA with your own money
  • You can’t enter the USA with more than $10,000 or else it’s confiscated by Customs
  • Loadial Title – means you are the one and only true owner (of land or whatever). Treaty of Paris that ended the American Revolution gave the U.S. the first loadial title in history in exchange for allowing England free travel and trade in the U.S. A loadial title is only still attainable in Texas. Without one, the government owns your land and you are merely renting it. That's why you have to pay property taxes.
  • Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin (MSO) – possession of this means true sole ownership of your car (dealership sends them to the state, the state logs them and shreds them); a Certificate of Title is like a gift certificate of co-ownership w/ government, thus you have to pay a Registration Fee
  • Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) of 1998, signed by Bill Clinton, makes it illegal to circumvent copy protection technology even to just make copies of products you already own for your own personal use.
  • Took the government’s power to coin money and regulate its value and gave that power to a PRIVATE bank in 1913 called the Federal Reserve Bank. The Federal Reserve is neither a government organization nor is it a reserve of wealth, just in the way that Federal Express is not a government organization either. The problem is that whenever the government wants to spend money, they don't just spend what comes in from taxes. Rather, the government "borrows" money from the Federal Reserve. Except that the Federal Reserve doesn't have money to lend. Instead, the Federal Reserve simply has more money printed which it LENDS to the government at high interest rates. The government pays the interest off using the income from the Federal Income Tax. That's where your taxes are going, not to roads, or schools, or national defense. So the big question is why does the government need to borrow money from the Federal Reserve? Couldn't they just print their own money without having to pay interest? The answer is yes, that's how things worked until 1913. Since then, the bankers are the ones in control of the government by controling the money supply.
  • Government owns your kids: child services can take them away from you without a trial
  • The Patriot Act allows government to do the following secretly and without a warrant:
  • Search your home
  • Wiretap your phone, computer, and internet
  • Investigate your financial records (bank accounts, credit cards, etc.)
  • Investigate your library book activity
  • Investigate your medical records, travel records, and business records
  • Freeze your finances without the right to appeal
  • Maintain “watch lists” that ban individuals from air travel
  • Military Commissions Act of 2006: suspends Habeas Corpus - aliens can be jailed for life w/o charges, a trial, or a lawyer (and you can become an alien by being deported by the government)
  • John Warner National Defense Authorization Act [H.R. 5122 ENR] – amends USC, Title 10, Sec. 333 to grant the President the power to decide and declare martial law (which used to be decided by Congress), nullifying the Posse Comitatus Act which prevented government officials from using the military to do the job of civilian law enforcement (i.e. local and state police)
  • Senate Bill #1873 – the government has power to vaccinate you against your will with untested vaccines
  • Congressman Sensenbremner Bill (HR1528) – requires you to spy on your neighbors to include wearing a wire for which refusal is punished by a mandatory prison sentence of at least 2 years
  • WHAT CONGRESS MIGHT DO IN THE FUTURE WITHOUT AUTHORITY FROM THE CONSTITUTION
  • Real I.D. Act (May 2008) - National I.D. Card will contain your driver’s license, social security number, biometrics (fingerprint/retinal scan). Without it you won’t be able to enter an airplane, train, or federal building and you won’t be able to open a bank account.
  • Radio Frequency I.D. (RFID) – microchip can be put on any product and an implantable capsule version has been approved by FDA for humans. These devices can keep personal information or track your location wherever you go. Cell phones can already track your location as well as record your conversation even while turned off
  • WHAT HAS THE PRESIDENT DONE WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION FROM THE CONSTITUTION?

  • President John Adams – Alien & Sedition Act to punish reporters for publishing illegal government activity
  • President Theodore Roosevelt – Eminent Domain states that you own your property unless the public needs it in some way and reserves the right to take it away at any time without just compensation
  • President Woodrow Wilson – regretted allowing the Federal Reserve to control coining money in 1913; “I am a most unhappy man. I have unwittingly ruined my country. A great industrial nation is now controlled by its system of credit. We are no longer a government by conviction and the vote of the majority, but a government by opinion and duress of a small group of dominant men.”
  • President Franklin Deleanor Roosevelt – Great Depression caused by the government not keeping enough money in circulation; in 1929 there was $2,400 per person, but in 1930 there was only $14 per person. Before being elected to President, he was the Secretary of the Navy. During his presidency, he ordered the U.S. Navy to dock all its ships in Pearl Harbor, but the Admiral said no and was fired. New Admiral obeyed and the Japanese decimated Pearl Harbor, bringing the U.S. into World War II. This is liley to have been a deliberate act by FDR.
  • President can publish an Executive Order that bypasses Congress
  • Executive Order #11921 – President has power to declare a national emergency (undefined) that suspends the Constitution, which Congress cannot review for 6 months. There has been an existing state of national emergency since 1933 and the President re-signs it every 2 years.
  • President Richard Nixon – in 1971 he ended the practice of being able to exchange U.S. dollars for gold; Watergate scandal spying on political opponents
  • President Bill Clinton – authorized secret phone wiretap program “Echelon” without warrants… BEFORE 9/11; legal opponents of Bill Clinton were singled out for tax audits according to IRS official Paul Breslan
  • President George W. Bush – enacted executive order suspending the writ of Habeas Corpus; signed Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America in 2005
  • Executive Order #10999 – government has power to take control of all systems of travel
  • Executive Order #11000 – government has power to mobilize CIVILIANS into work brigades
  • FDA – the public does not have a right to know which foods have been genetically altered
  • Treasury Department letter 12AUG2005 – government has the power to seize all financial instruments (gold, silver, and anything else) if deeming it an emergency
  • Pentagon statement to Fox News – a massive government database that monitors every purchase made by every American citizen is a necessary tool in the war on terror
  • U.S. military bases stationed in 130 out of the 190 countries of the world
  • "Since the general civilization of mankind, I believe there are more instances of the abridgement of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations." – James Madison, author of The Constitution
  • "If tyranny and oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy." – James Madison
  • “None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free.” – Goethe
