Author Comments:
If I were in charge of which movies went into DVD gift sets, I'd have some better ideas. At least, better for me. I'd want to get some of those more obscure, harder-to-find movies on DVD and in gift packs, and that's really the point of this list, although some of these sets are just creative ideas I've come up with.
Note: I did not include Kurosawa in the LOTFF collection simply because he already has a pretty good DVD gift set, which I own. Carl Theodor Dreyer has two different sets.
Suggestions / changes are welcome.

Great list! Pretty funny Hamlet entry. I don't have time to look it up, but I'm pretty sure there's a big ol' Buster Keaton collection on Amazon somewhere.
I checked that out. It seemed pretty cool, but I can't afford it. I should add that all of my DVD gift sets would be fairly cheap, because they wouldn't spend hundreds of dollars to improve the picture quality by 3%, and they wouldn't put on superfluous features. Sure, sometimes the theatrical trailer or the five-minute interview with the director is interesting, but if it raises the price of the DVD by 10 bucks, I'll pass, thanks.
