- Genesis: Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins (I'm not including the one album they did with Ray Wilson)
- Van Halen: David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar (same as above: the album with that guy from Extreme isn't worth discussing)
- AC/DC: Bon Scott or Brian Johnson
- Pink Floyd: Syd Barrett or Roger Waters or David Gilmour (editor's note: all three have sung lead vocals while each was still a member of the band, but each was also the leader of this band at one point...you'll understand if you're in the know)
- King Crimson: Greg Lake, Boz Burrell, John Wetton or Adrian Belew

At first I wanted to give my reasons for picking one from each band, but I'm curious to know what everyone else feels.
Oh, and I have I missed any other bands???

These are pretty tough choices. I love the Genesis stuff with Gabriel and everything with Collins up to ABACAB was good too. I guess Phil tarnished his rep enough for me to pick Gabriel. I'm a Roth man all the way in Halen. Fair Warning is one of my favorite albums of all time. AC/DC were really two different bands. With Bon they were more of a blues driven band. Johnson changed their sound immensely. I'd give the edge to Johnson. Floyd, impossible for me to pick, although I saw Floyd live with only Gilmour and they weren't very good. Don't know Crimson well enough to comment.
Beatles - John Lennon or Paul McCartney?
McCartney was a ton better than Lennon. I also think that David Lee Roth was great with van halen, sammy hagar was better solo than Roth. t
the Band is an obvious ommission...levon helm. rick danko and richard manuel
