- GHOST WORLD (I am currently obsessed with this mordant, witty, gem of a movie with Thora Birch as Enid. I can't do justice to this film with description. It's not yet another teen angst type deal. There is angst and teens, but it's just... different. This movie has great characterizations, dialogue, editing, the whole package. And it also has something much better - profound wackiness. It abounds. This movie's so full of the delicious craziness that surrounds us each day. And it makes you love it so much you just want to scream. Ghost World - see it.)
- HIGH FIDELITY - Love this movie. Love the book it was based on. It grows on me like a fungus. The soundtrack is brilliant too. And Jack Black. And that scene where Ian/Ray comes into the video store and they go through the several different versions of how he could respond to him. MAN! Man.
- VELVET GOLDMINE - I think it's eternally an almost favorite, but I wanted to mention it on the list nevertheless. A brilliant Todd Haynes film which despite being fictional and fanciful tells you more about glam rock than any warmed-over Behind the Music could hope to. And the costumes. Delicious.
- THE MATRIX - This movie is metaphysical, philosophical and spiritual. The ideals behind it are central to Eastern religion and the spiritual path I am entering on. Too bad there has to be so much shooting to get it across. But, hey, I like action movies too. This movie's crazy cheesy but there's a lot going on there too.

When I get a chance I now want to construct a top 100.
That will take a while, considering I have this really complicated system I use to eliminate films. You don't even want to know. I should be spending my time on more valuable endeavors. Hell, making a mix-tape would be more valuable!

The Matrix is one of my favorite also (alongside The 5th Element). I haven't seen any of the others.
I tried to see High Fidelity, since John Cusack is one of my favorite actors, but sine my ex-fiancee broke up with me the day before I tried to see it, I just couldn't get into watching it, and now it's got bad memories for me. I'll probably never watch it.
Grosse Point Blank, however, is a favorite.
I'm sorry to hear about your bad associations with High Fidelity. Funny enough, I watched it right after a bad break-up too. I kept watching it, however, almost obsessively, cause it comforted me somehow. And then, by odd chance, it was the first movie I watched with my now fiancee.
When the pain goes away someday, you'll probably dig this movie a lot. Until then, hang in.
