Some fun movies on here. However, this library of comedies could be upgraded. Blazing Saddles, The producers, Dr. Strangelove, Some Like It Hot, Young Frankenstein, Night Shift, Animal House, Stripes, Trading Places, The Survivors, etc.
I could go with Dr. Strangelove and Some Like it Hot, but I'll have to pass on the rest. I find most of them funny, but just not enough to watch again and again. I first saw The Producers with lbangs and his wife, and I still remember them laughing so hard they could barely breath; I think I was more entertained by their reactions than I was by the movie! (Hope you don't mind this anecdote, lester)
Nah, everybody deserves to be warned that watching The Producers with my wife and I can be an amusing proposition, whether one digs the film or not.
The really sad thing is that I have seen that film tons of times, and I believe I still crack up that much each and every time. Something about can-can girls dancing in the shape of a swastika, and that classic shot of the audience's reactions...
I think I mention these pretty much every time I see a comedy list where they are missing . . . How about A Fish Called Wanda or Groundhog Day? Funds allowing, would those make the cut?
Sorry about the delay, my wife had to fire up the defibrillator . . . I think every other time I've asked somebody if they forgot Wanda the response has been that it was an unintentional oversight, not that they haven't seen it! Tell you what, if you make that one of the next three movies you rent (which allows for "not in the mood tonight"), I'll do the same for the movie of your choice (you can check my to see list for stuff I haven't seen yet, or you can guess). Oo. I kinda like that idea. A movie exchange of sorts.
I'll give you a couple of choices here so you can go by what type of movie you're in the mood for. Sweet Hereafter is great, but it's also a major downer. So for a less disturbing pick, I might say The Verdict, one of the best courtroom dramas I've seen. Furthermore, The Verdict reminds me of another of my favorite courtroom dramas, a Jessica Lange one from the eighties called The Music Box. It's chilling and gripping and many other adjectives I don't have time to list. I believe Lange was nominated for best actress for it. Looking forward to Wanda...
Cool! Given how Paul Newman is my all-time favorite actor, watching The Verdict is long-overdue. It will be one of the next three movies I rent (that was the deal, right?). I'll have to watch The Sweet Hereafter alone, as my wife has no need to be that depressed. :-)
Cool! Seems that we both loved the picks, so that worked out as well as could be imagined. By the way, my review of Wanda is on your "Favorite Movies" list if you haven't seen it already.

Ah, easier to do than I would have ever imagined. I'll have to try out a link in the next few days. And I'd love to do the film exchange again. I'll check out your favorites list again at some point and see which ones I haven't seen, and I'll let you know...

Shockingly, I haven't ever see A Fish Called Wanda, but both Groundhog Day and What About Bob? could make it at any time. Bill Murray=Genius...

All right, that response definitely had me laughing! Well Jim, you've got a deal. I'll head over to your list and make a selection...

No hurry Jim; I'm in the midst of writing papers at the moment anyway, so Wanda may be racking up a few late fees before I get to it!

Your turn. :-)

Yeah, that was great! We'll have to do it again sometime! I'll respond to your Wanda post over at my "favorites" list shortly.
And hey, about that linking thing, check this out and e-mail me if you have questions.
