Author Comments:

What (and especially how) did you feel when you saw these scenes.
Do you know any other disgusting scenes?

Oh, Gosh, there are hundreds, the problem is remembering them. Recently, I saw A Patch of Blue, and the scene where the mother throws a glass, it misses the father and hits the little girl in the face and blinds her for the rest of her life is pretty awful, I thought. And the effect on the camera as it blinds her was pretty memorable.

Maybe that doesn't measure up to the others - I haven't seen those movies. You decide.

Damn, there are so many more, why can't I remember them?

The scene where Michael Madsen cuts the cop's ear off in Reservoir Dogs.

Yeah, thanks to both of you!

Rape scene in Irreversible
Brutal 'hunt,' fight and murder at the opening of Irreversible
Beach scene in Saving Private Ryan
Rape scene in Deliverence?
The scene in The Brood where the woman bites into her own bloody 'Satan-child sack' and pulls out the bloody baby, then licks it clean of blood. Almost made me throw up...

Thanks.
I have heard and read a lot about 'Irreversible'.
'The Brood': I haven't yet seen it, but that makes me curious, hehe... ;-)

Just saw it - the burning to death of an old woman accused of being a witch in Day of Wrath (1943).

REALLY kickass film, BTW.

Thank you!

I thought the last scene of Easy Rider was pretty horrible.

Yes, I remember the scene.

My personal vote for most horrible movie scene in Requiem for a dream was when Jared Leto sticks the heroin into the hole of his really nasty arm.

The end was pretty bad, too, though, especially when they cut his arm off and when Jennifer Connelly is getting gang-banged.

Oh, yeah I remember those scenes very well.

Good call. That was NASTY.

I recently bought the movie Cross of Iron (Dir. Sam Peckinpah) on DVD. There is one 'throwaway' scene showing a muddy track/road carrying retreating German military traffic. A dead soldier lies across the road, the body repeatedly run over by trucks, mashed like a piece of animal road-kill. Horrible and effective.

I haven't yet seen the movie, but I think I've already heard of this scene. Thanks.

You don't even see it all that much, but the way the black guy gets kill at the beginning of American History X made my skin crawl. (He's forced to lay on the street, open his mouth like he's going to bite the sidewalk, then gets crushed on the back of the head.)

That is a terrible scene, but I was never sure if he did that to kill the guy or just to bust out all his teeth.

It makes my mouth all numb and tingly just recalling it. A tremendously effective scene. I always thought he intended to kill him.

wot do you wont then you let me know and i will do my best to show u reality ride up with us and know you will have a change of hart realite canot be staged .

'Marathon Man'- Answering dentist questions.
"Yes, it's safe, it's very safe, it's so safe you wouldn't believe it. "
"Is it safe? "
"No. It's not safe, it's... very dangerous, be careful."

How 'bout tossing naked children into a fire to burn to death in Alexander Nevsky?

Oh. Disgusting movie scenes. Where do I begin? Let us dwell upon:

- The protagonist injecting gasoline into the heart of a young boy in "In a Glass Cage".

- The climax of "Audition": 'Deeper... deeper...'

- Dinner being served in "Salo".

- The home-invasion video in "Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer".

- The 'damn fine custard' in "Dead Alive".

- Vincent Gallo gets a piece in "Trouble Every Day".

- Helen Mirren's vengeance in "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover".

- The 'reversal' of fortune in "Funny Games".

- Lust in "Se7en".

- Takeshi Kitano demonstrating the effectiveness of the electronic collars in "Battle Royale".

- The heroine forced to watch her boyfriend stabbed through the jaw in "Opera".

- The literal knife in the heart in "Suspiria".

- The protagonist goes to uncomfortable measures to silence the chaos in his head in "Clean, Shaven".

- The bad guy sets a fire in "Run and Kill".

I'll be back later with more...

I had a hard time with the barbed wire sequence in Suspiria as well. Actually, pretty much everything in that movie turned me off.

Thanks for your (numerous) contributions.

The Accused
The rape scene.
I felt nauseated that this wasn't fiction and that it was believable. I hated that.

The Untouchables
De Niro's black tie and batting practice scene as Al Capone.
The sudden brutality really frightened me. I'm not sure if there was blood but, in my mind's eye, there was spatter.

A Clockwork Orange
"I'm sing-ing in the rain. just. sing-ing in the rain." Plus the eyedrops.
If you want to ruin a great Gene Kelly movie, a great Beethoven work and Visine you should have no problem. The cognitive dissonance provided by the McDowell/Kelly dichotomy was too much for me.

Alien: Resurrection
The lab with the aborted Ripley/Alien hybrids. Sigourney Weaver's ability as an actor kept this from being a nervous laughter scene.

Silkwood
Karen Silkwood's brutilization by decontamination shower
The first time I saw this the tension between watching something that was gang rape in everything but name and the desperate hope that her assailants would save her life was unbearable. Do NOT read this if you haven't seen Silkwood yet. I mean it. I'm ashamed to admit that the Silkwood quote in Monsters, Inc. was hilarious.
The Deer Hunter
Seeing Steven get broken twice. First his legs and then his mind. ("Michael!" as rats crawl over him and the river rises. Then when Michael tries to drown him. The Russian roulette scenes didn't bother me half as much.
I think that this was De Niro's greatest acting performance by far. He shoulders a three hour movie and is surrounded by actors who can keep up. His scenes with Streep... I can't articulate it. I've never seen better acting.

Internal Affairs
Peck finishing off his partner when the hit he has set up isn't fatal. Amy's death scene in the ambulance as she bleeds out is also horrific ("You got it?.. what did I say?") when Raymond is trying to soothe her. Normally I hate "back from the dead" happy endings. Not this one.
The cold calculation in Gere's eyes as he hears the approaching ambulance is stunning.

Deliverance
You know why.

Thanks so much for your contribution.
Now this really becomes a great collection of 'horrible movie scenes'.

Requiem for a Dream, American History X and Audition are the ones that get me from the list.

Can i suggest
Kill Bill Vol.2 - eye gouge 2 (the screaming)
Trainspotting - baby scene (depressing aswell as sickening)
The Thing - burst through chest
Evil Dead II - chainsaw/ girlfriend (this scene is disturbing not funny. lol)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - first victim of leather face
Lilja 4-ever - montage of rape
Misery - punishment/foot

Yeah, thanks.

Kill Bill Vol.1 - Buck's head getting smashed
Battle Royale - Poison Soup
Chopper - Ear cutting

Added.

Have you ever seen the film Happiness? There are a few disturbing scenes in that, I think the worst is the dream sequence. I found the whole film unsettling.

Nope, can't remember that one, but added. Thanks.

The Butcher Boy - "One little Piggie..."
