Half the fun of playing in the snow is coming inside to warm up. Hot chocolate, a warm blanket, and fuzzy slippers make you glad you got cold in the first place. Here are some cold movies that will make you want to cozy up on the couch and be glad you're safe and warm after trudging home from the video store.

How 'bout Smilla's Sense of Snow? I have to admit, I saw the movie first, and thought it was quite good right up until the unbelievable science fiction ending. But then I read the book and realized it ended the same way. So while I still don't like the ending of either, I hold it against the movie less. And except for the fact that the endings stretched my suspension of disbelief too far, I thought both the book and the movie were excellent.

Nice concept for a list. Obvious spin-offs might include: "Hot Movies" (misleading, that one), "Wet Movies" (...aah, no, won't touch it), "Dry Movies" (no problems there), "Loud Movies", (what?), "Quiet Movies"...etc.

There were two WWII movies that might make this list, BATTLEGROUND (about the 101st Airbourne division besieged at Bastogne) and STALAG 17. STALAG by the way (and I know this sounds bizarre) would make my list of Christmas favorites
