- FNCE 101. Monetary Economics and the Global Economy (I've heard this is more of an economics course than a finance course. But I've liked the economics and finance I've taken so far, so this should be fine.)
- PSYC 001. Introduction to Experimental Psychology (Taught by a teacher known across campus for being funny, interesting, and easy. The class contains 437 people. There are 10,047 full-time undergrads at Penn. This means 4.35% of the undergraduate University of Pennsylvania is in my class.)
- ACCT 102. Managerial Accounting (Does not seem more interesting than ACCT 101, but the structure seems more laid-back and the workload seems less time-consuming, so that's something.)
- INSR 205. Risk Management (Pretty interesting so far.)
- FILM 260. Contemporary British Cinema (Pop quizzes are lame, but other than that, this class should be pretty cool.)
Cloned From:

Here are the films we are currently planning to watch in Contemporary British Cinema. This list is subject to change.
The Long Good Friday (1980) - John Mackenzie
The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover (1990) - Peter Greenaway
Dirty Pretty Things (2002) - Stephen Frears
Chariots of Fire (1981) - Hugh Hudson
A Room With a View (1985) - James Ivory
Trainspotting (1996) - Danny Boyle
Notting Hill (1999) - Roger Michel
Burning an Illusion (1981) - Menalik Shabazz
My Beautiful Laundrette (1985) - Stephen Frears
High Hopes (1988) - Mike Leigh
Handsworth Songs (1986) - John Akomfrah
I'm British But (1991) - Gurinda Chadha (in class screening)
Riff Raff (1994) - Ken Loach
Cathy Come Home (1966) - Ken Loach (in class screening)
In This World (2002) - Michael Winterbottom
Bread and Roses (2000) - Ken Loach
My first reaction is to say, "When does Add/Drop period end?"
My second is: Keep in mind that Daniel Day-Lewis exploded on to the (or at least my) scene with simultaneous roles in My Beautiful Laundrette and A Room With A View . Stunning... still.
Third: The Long Good Friday *Bam!* Hullo Luv! Hullo World! I'm Bob Hoskins... and the meathooks.
It's funny, the first two classes we've basically been talking about how some people think British cinema sucks. Nonetheless, I'm eager to be studying a single time and place in cinema that I don't know all that well, and take a class where I watch movies I've never seen or (for some) even heard of before.
