My ratings in no way reflect solely the cinematographical work in the film. If the DP is on this list then I already like their work. So if Ive given a film a bad rating, it means the movie sucked, but I probably still liked the cinematography.

Nice list. DP's don't get nearly enough credit for their work. I'd think Roger Deakins would fit nicely in this list.
Wow! He's done a lot of work I admire! I havent seen nearly enough Coen Bros. films to have put 2 adn 2 together though. Usually, a DP comes to my attention via the director he's right hand man to so eventually he would have come to my attention but Im glad to know about him now. I will try and add him today. Thanks for that!
So who is your favorite on this list? Mine is Mathieson (formerly Khondji-I still think CoLC features the best cinematography of any movie every filmed)
That's a hard question. The problem is dissociating the DP's work from the director's vision. I think this also explains why DP's don't get much credit from many people.
Of your list, I haven't seen enough of a couple (Gimenez and Yamamoto) to make any real statements. I think I may like Mathieson least; several of his films go with that grainy look, which I'm not the biggest fan of. Though, again, is that his or the director's decision? I might like Acord best, even with his relatively short list of work, but that's only a gut reaction to your list.
I know EXACTLY what you mean. I oftentimes ponder that myself and its a muddled grey line unless its something you can ask them yourself or if they stated any of that in the commentary or special features. Most of them, as I made mention of before, stick with one or two directors. Mathieson is Ridley Scott's henchman (as well as his son's) and he has done a few other things here and there. I guess the best way to view it is to see the director's work that isnt by their main DP and see the DP's work that isnt directed by their main "fearless leader".
Compare Very Long Engagement (Delbonnel) to CoLC (Khondji). Delbonnel's look is subdued color-wise but nonetheless vivid whereas Khondji's vision is more grimy. I know there are also thematic elements that are different between the two, but thats the best comparison I could think of at the moment.
