This is an entry in a continuing series I call Critical Consensus. I am averaging the opinions of several excellent music critics to produce a list of each artist's albums. The albums will each have a rating between 1 and 10. The albums will be listed in a recommended purchasing order, so new fans will have an idea of where the best place to start buying an artist's work is. These are not my opinions, although, since I have chosen the critics used (and I'm using many), my taste will perhaps seep through a bit.
Terribly nerdy, I know, but maybe this will help people only now beginning to dabble into certain artists' bodies of work.
Where is "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie?" I personally preferred it, but I'm aware that would not be the consensus.
No slight intended. Since I shun newspaper music critics, who I tend to have a rather low opinion of by and large, I am rather restrained to a few on-line sources and to several published criticisms for these list. Supposed, coming out in late 98, was simply too new to be included in most of my sources, and as such, I was unable to calculate a firm critical consensus on the album. As newer sources are printed (a good number of my sources are regularly updated), I will be adding many of the later albums not present on these lists. Supposed will surely be one of them.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but would you consider doing one of these for Joni Mitchell? I would be highly interested.
This is as great of a place to ask as any. I definitely will do Joni Mitchell. She was in the next five I had on my to do list, and since you requested it, I will move her to the top. I also am very interested to see how her albums turn out. I've little doubt that Court & Spark and Blue will pull 10s, but I am very curious to see how Hissing of Summer Lawns and others of her later albums pan out.
I'll try to post this by Monday afternoon.

lester, I think Jagged Little Pill is good, but I have a feeling it's standing in the minds of critics is bound to diminish over the years; what's your opinion? 9 1/2 seems awfully high to me...

I also think Jagged Little Pill will slip at least a little over the years. 9 1/2 is entirely too high for the album.
I've noticed that artists with only one album to their name tend to do very well on these CC lists. Are critics more forgiving when dealing with only one work? I'm not sure, but without having any other work to use as a comparison, it would seem single albums definitely get the benefit of the doubt.
