Cool. What was Gaiman like? I'll be curious about Sedaris as well (although I've heard him speak on NPR).
i guess what i liked best about seeing Neil Gaiman was hearing the book (Neverwhere) read in his accent. having that voice in mind added a lot to the reading experience. also, i got to talk to him a bit while he signed my copy--made him laugh when i told him i used to have to get my mom to buy Sandman comics for me before i was 18. seemed very personable really.
i'll definitely keep you posted on the Sedaris event--it's at the end of the month sometime.
Excellent. I love hearing when authors I like are interesting and/or personable. I didn't know (or forgot) that you were a Sandman reader. One thing I enjoy is when authors I enjoy like each other's work. A topical example - I was psyched to see Harlan Ellison's introduction to the fourth Sandman book.
Something you might be interested in bertie recently urged me to hunt down a Gaiman short story called Bay Wolf. He described it like so (hope he doesn't mind me quoting):
tell me what you thought about david sedaris (speaking.)
also, what do you know about sarah vowell? i think she, too, is a contributor to NPR, but i know little else. they will be speaking together (?) here in dc in november. just wanted some idea of what he was like to see/hear.
