- 1981 flew from Brussels International Airport to the Isle of Jersey (and back one week later) with my parents on a small-sized two-motor plane.
- 1982 flew from Brussels International Airport to Agadir Airport in Morroco (two-week vacation) with my parents on some kind of medium-haul Boeing jet.
- 1983 flew from Brussels International Airport to Varna, Bulgaria (two-week vacation) with my parents on a four-jet Tupolev (probably the old T3000).
- March 2001 Brussels International Airport Zaventem (BIAZ) to Vienna International Airport (two hours and a half) on a Airbus 320 then Vienna to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) (eleven hours something) on a Boeing 777 (flight chartered by Lauda Airlines, it of the burnt-face race car driver fame) -same return journey.
- June 2001 one-day journey as one of the few nice perks of being a journalist: Brussels South Charleroi Airport (BSCA) to Milano Bergamo Airport on a Boeing 737-200 operated by irish low-cost company Ryanair (about two hours of flight in the morning and two hours back in the evening).
- September 2001 BIAZ to London Heathrow (not much more than sixty minutes) on a very small jet plane (60-seat max) then Heathrow to KLIA (that's close to thirteen hours, so learn those plane seat gymnastics to avoid blood clots) on a 747 operated by Malaysia Airlines (best on-flight service I've experienced). Return journey was same.
- June 2002 BIAZ to Heathrow on a Airbus 310 then the big whoppin' Heathrow-KLIA on a Malaysia Airlines 747 then a good three hours more on a Boeing 737-800 from KLIA to NAIA (Nino Aquino International Airport) in Manila. return journey comparable.
- September 2002 once more a fine side of my job: I get to be part of the local newspapers' delegation on the first flight from BSCA to Pisa, Italy. Two-and-a-half hours flight on a Boeing 737-800. Return journey later the same day.
- January 2004 BIAZ to Heathrow on the smallest jet operated by British Midland. Heathrow to the spankin' new Honk-Kong International on a 747 operated by Cathay Pacific (strongly recommended airline company for a first-time long-haul experience)(note: unlike before when the journey was over the middle east, saudi arabia and northern india in a rather straight line, this time we flew across russia and went down to HK over mongolia and crossed the himalayas) then HK to NAIA. return journey was the same but the other way around, obviously.
- September 2004 very serious three-day reporting job in Poland: BSCA to Krakow (close to four hours) airport on a 737-800 operated by the ill-fated low-cost Air Polonia company (thankfully that company went bankrupt after we took the flight back to Belgium :p)
