- It was with great sadness that I heard about Ray Charles death. That's three personal icons since the end of 2002, Strummer, Cash and Charles. While he has been out of the limelight for quite sometime there is no denying his mark on music and cultural history. Without Ray Charles there is no Otis Redding, Prince, Earth Wind and Fire or any other soul or funk music. So, goodbye Brother Ray, enjoy playing in the most kick ass band of all time and know that there are millions back here that will miss you and treasure your music forever.
