This brief history is a testimony to the truthfulness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Specifically, this testimony offers an inspirational answer to the question of why God would reestablish his true church on American soil in 1830, after more than 1700 years of Apostasty. The same pattern occurs in the Old Testament:
- God sends a prophet
- the people draw closer to God for a time
- then they drift away again and kill the Lord's prophet, which angers the Lord
- God punishes mankind by withdrawing his true church and waiting awhile before he gives mankind another prophet
