A Wrinkle in Time by L'Engle is fantastic. I don't keep a lot of books, but I have this one.
Fahrenheir 451 is excellent, but don't ruin it by seeing the movie.
If you haven't read it, one you should add is "The Book Thief" by Zuzak.
